What surgeons ask.

The product

What is lift?

lift is a Kerrison system for lumbar decompression. It cuts and clears bone and tissue through integrated suction, collecting removed material in the Tissue Vault.

What comes in the system?

The lift Kerrison, NovaPort with integrated LED lighting, and Tissue Vault. No tower or capital equipment required.

What can it remove?

Bone and ligamentum flavum, supporting laminotomy and foraminotomy.

Is the tip single use?

Yes. Each sterile, single-use tip provides a fresh cutting edge.

Is lift FDA cleared?

The Kerrison is FDA 510(k) cleared under K200768 for cutting and removing bone and tissue in spine surgery. See FDA clearance.

The procedure

How long does a case take?

The current physician materials describe cases under 15 minutes. Actual procedure times vary.

What imaging is required?

Fluoroscopic guidance, visualization through the lit NovaPort, or both, depending on the procedure.

What anesthesia is used?

The procedure materials describe monitored anesthesia care (MAC) as the typical approach. Anesthesia is determined by the treating team.

What’s the learning curve?

lift uses a familiar Kerrison-style cutting motion. Training and proficiency depend on the surgeon’s experience.

Patients

Which patients may be candidates?

Patients with imaging-confirmed lumbar spinal stenosis, symptoms consistent with nerve compression and insufficient relief from conservative treatment.

Who may not be a candidate?

The current materials identify spondylolisthesis greater than grade 1 and segmental instability as exclusions. Patient selection requires clinical evaluation. See important safety information.

What is recovery like?

The current materials describe same-day discharge and a return to daily activities within 24–48 hours for many patients. Recovery varies.

Is there information for patients?

Yes. The patient page includes a one-minute symptom check and an overview of treatment options.
